A BIBLICAL LOOK AT TATTOOS!!
Leviticus 19:28
Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.

Leviticus 21:5
They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

Isaiah 44:5
One shall say, I am the Lord’s; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the Lord, and surname himself by the name of Israel.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Revelation 13:16-17
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Revelation 14:9-11
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

I am bought with a price, I am not my own – therefore I have to ask God, “God, can I put a tattoo on our body?”

When God is talking about the Body He is not talking about the outer shell that is wasting away, He is referring to the spirit, the soul, the mind and heart, these are the Temple. What we focus on in our heart will affect the others and produce feelings that motivate us and will be shown in our actions. Tattoos in the Old Testament were a sign of paganism this is why God forbid them they showed where their focus was as did other ornaments that were worn and piecing the body. In Revelation we see once again it will be a sign were peoples loyalties are. Today in Australia many men and woman are getting tattoos including Christians … why…it is the fashion nothing more .. look at me I’m with it, notice me I’m beautiful , I’m a Man, lets not be deceived their focus is on themselves, God tells us what we say and do reflects His Lordship in our lives and He must come first and then others and in Christ Jesus and outwardly will be the reflection of what is our heart focus. As Godly woman I’m told to dress with modesty and without trusting in outward adornments for beauty but I am to seek inward beauty…I. Christ Jesus I’m beautiful and He delights in me… that’s all I need.

    Christian Love Anne.
